Coming Undone…

I have been digging my new frayed hemline jeans! I picked up a pair of Rag and Bone jeans about a month ago with a frayed hemline… and I have to tell you they are my new favorite pair of jeans. My favorite pairing for a more casual look is with slide loafers, and for a more dressed up look a pair of sassy pointed heels works perfectly.

How are you feeling about this trend? Is it a hit or a miss for you?

Full Moon…Charge those Crystals!

I try to charge up my most used crystals at least once a month. I see a Full Moon charge as a “reset” button for my crystals. Keep in mind your crystals harness energy, and clean the air. So, you don’t want to block the crystal from offering you the most benefits.

3 Simple Steps:

  1. Wash the Crystals. A simple rinse under the faucet is my favorite. I like to visualize the water washing away any negative energy held in the crystal. (FYI there are some crystals that should AVOID WATER–This list is not exhaustive, but it will give you a good start: Desert Rose, Halite, Himalayan Salt (Salt Lamps), Malachite, and Selenite)
  2. Full Moon Charge.  Place your crystals outside under the moonlight. You do not need a special container; you can use a box, a cloth, etc. The ideal time to put them out is just after sunset. Some crystals should avoid sunlight so after dusk is a perfect time. I use a moon app to see when the full moon will be–Next is December 13th, 2016!! Get ready!
  3. Pull them in the next morning. You only need to charge your crystals for one night. After your crystals have their lunar charge they are ready to get back to work. Keep in mind that some crystals should avoid sunlight. (Here is a list of the most common used crystals that should avoid sunlight–this list is not exhaustive, but it will give you a good start: Amegreen, Amethyst, Ametrine, Apophyllite Green, Aquamarine, Auralite23, Celestite, Citrine, Fluorite, Hiddenite, Kunzite, Opal (will dry out), Prasiolite, Rose Quartz, Smoky Quartz, Spirit Quartz, Super Seven, Topaz, Turquoise)

    Rose Quartz

There you have it, the simple process of using the moonlight to charge your crystals. There are many other methods, but for me the Full Moon charge is very effective! I like that it can be used on every crystal. You might be thinking…”What if I miss the Full Moon?”; good news is the Full Moon energy lasts for 3 days after the Full Moon, so you have a few days to soak up the energy of the Full Moon!

I am sure you have questions…comment below. I want to continue to share my love for crystals and want to help you bring positive energy into your life!

Introduction to Crystals

For as long as I can remember I have been a collector of rocks, and crystals. And, over the years I have gained more of an understanding of their healing and spiritual qualities. Each crystal has a different energy and implication. It can be a little overwhelming when learning about crystals, and finding out what crystal is best for your needs. I wanted to share my top three healing crystals, and introduce the healing powers that they posses to help you start your own crystal collection.

Clear Quartz attracts life force from the unlimited source of life at the core of your being and brings it into the physical world. As this life force flows through you, it nourishes and balances your mind, emotions, and physical body and corrects color ray imbalances within them. Because this stream of vital energy touches every facet of your being, all aspects of your life improve. The life energy Quartz draws through your body and into the atmosphere also provides vital spiritual nourishment for the Earth. [click link for source]

Amethyst has healing powers to help with physical ailments, emotional issues, and in Energy Healing and Chakra balancing. Amethyst crystal therapies are primarily associated with physical ailments of the nervous system, the curing of nightmares and insomnia, and balancing the crown chakra.[click link for source]

Rose Quartz is good for lowering stress and tension in the heart, Rose Quartz clears out anger, jealousy, and resentment of others, and allows healing of heart issues and disease associated with holding on to such negative emotions. Known as a romance stoneRose Quartz can be used to attract love.[click link for source]

To start your collection I would suggest starting with the clear quartz. It has a variety of uses so you can use it for any area of personal healing. It is also great for clearing the energy at your home, or office. Clear quartz can also be used to charge other crystals. Later I will talk about uses/placements of crystals around your home and how to care for your crystals to get the greatest healing benefits from them. Until then, head to your nearest mineral store and get your crystal collection started. When picking a crystal pick it up and see if the energy feels right. I really believe crystals speak to different peoples’ energies. Once you get your crystal home give it a good bath water. Your crystal is now ready to energize and start the healing process.

Rock on!!

Gold Bars…AKA Food Goals

Let me tell you about my new favorite thing to treat my loved ones with… GOLD BARS! Now, growing up they use to serve these magical things every Wednesday at my elementary school. It wasn’t until recent that I decided to look up the recipe to see what all went into gold bars. And… let me tell you…. EASSSSSY! I love them, husband loves them, family loves them. They are so delicious that I feel like Monica on Friends in the “Candy Land” episode with requests for MORE…LOL. I love these for holiday parties and for treats to pass out to co-workers.

Here how simple these magic morsels are…

Peanutbutter Mix:
1 cups grassfed butter melted
2 cups organic confectioners’ sugar
2 cups organic creamy butter
2 cups  rice crispies cereal
Chocolate Topping:
1 1/2 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
6 Tbsp peanut butter, creamy

Peanut Butter Mixture:

1. In a large microwave-safe bowl melt butter

2. Next, add in confectioners’ sugar

3. Next, add 2 cups creamy peanut butter until well blended.

4. Lastly, fold in rice crispies until well blended.

5. In bottom of a 13×11 glass baking dish that has been lined with parchment paper gently press mixture evenly into baking dish.

For the  Chocolate Topping:

6. In the microwave, melt the chocolate chips with the 6Tbsp creamy peanut butter, stirring until smooth. (Heat approx 30-45 seconds at a time, then stir & repeat until fully melted.)

7. Allow chocolate topping to cool to room temperature and pour on top of peanut butter mixture–making a thin even layer.

8. Chill until set but not hard. Chocolate will begin to lose its shiny appearance. (approx. 1hr & 15min.)

9. Cut into pieces of desired size before fully chilled.
10. Return to the refrigerator until chocolate has hardened completely. (Overnight is best.) The longer these are kept, the better they get.
*You can also make these in cupcake papers to individualize them for easy gifting.
I hope you LOVE these and they make all your food goals come true!

Keeping Warm and Looking Good

Turtlenecks are my JAM! I don’t know what it is about them, but I feel like some sort of superhero or spy. When you find a good fitting turtleneck you cannot keep that kind of information to yourself! I really like a tighter look to a turtleneck, and a nice stretch to the material. I found a perfect fitting and super comfortable turtleneck!! I like it that it has length, and the sleeves are long. It has stretch to the fabric that gives that “body suit” kind of look.  These will be perfect for all fall/winter. For the weekend they will look great paired with a pair of skinny jeans and boots. For work I can pair them with a vest or blazer to give it a more of a dressed up business look. I am super excited to add these to my wardrobe. They are very cool, and chic without having to look like you are “trying” to look cool and chic.

I picked up two different styles: a striped turtleneck  in the olive; and a solid turtleneck  in black (I went with a size small for reference). I love all the color options and plan on picking up more!!

I hope you stay warm this holiday season!

Current Beauty Favs…And my daily routine

Keep it simple is my motto…I do not like a fussy make-up routine. My goal is to be DONE within 5-10 mins.

  1. Start off with a clean face. In the morning I use a water rinse. I have VERY sensitive skin, so I ONLY use cleanser once a day (I love Oxy Pads for night time… so high school teenager, right?).
  2. Moisturize!!! I have found my HG daily serum that I can use day an night. I am LIVING for this serum! I saw improvements within 3 days and it just seems to be getting BETTER. You can check it out here. It is a little on the pricy side, but it is one product that I can use day and night and be good to go…Like I said KEEP IT SIMPLE.
  3. After the serum soaks in I then apply a small about of the Pore Minimizer to my problem areas. You can check that out here.
  4. Next, I apply THE BEST FOUNDATION OF ALLLLLLLL TIME. Yes, let me say that again! THE BEST FOUNDATION OF ALLLLLLLL TIME! If you haven’t tried the Laneige BB Cushion you have not LIVED. I cannot say enough good things about it… I have gotten personal texts telling me that they could not believe how awesome this product is! So, yes, you NEED it.
  5. Conceal with the FIT ME where you need it. I use mostly to highlight under eyes and down the center of my face.
  6. Apply you favorite bronzer, blush, and mascara (I use different types/colors depending on my mood)… and you are DONE
  7. I refresh my skin with a face spray throughout the day. I love the Rose Water Spray. It can be found at any health food store.
  8. Oh, and I have a new favorite nude lippy! The Anastasia lipgloss in Butterscotch is a dream! I have fair/medium skin tone. You can check out Butterscotch and all their other colors here. They are super pigmented so I can use it as a lipstick/gloss. They are nice and creamy!

There you have it… all my current beauty favs! I hope you try them all, and love them as much as I do!

What is one item you REALLY want to try off this list?

morning routines… even for the not so morning person

Who else is familiar with the morning dance with their alarm clock? Beep, snooze, beep and snooze…

I haven’t always been a morning person, but I think that creating a morning routine has helped me re-evaluate the way I look at mornings. I use to get up and rush to get myself and everything I needed for the day. I hated it. I didn’t like always feeling a step behind. I also noticed that how I started my morning impacted the pace of the rest of my day. I was ready to make a change. I wanted to be excited to wake up every morning. I wanted to have ME TIME. Now every person has different goals for what they need to get accomplished in the morning. These are what I found have worked for me, and my lifestyle; so I wanted to share!

1. Figure out your R.E.M. cycle (There’s and APP for that). This has been a game changer for me. I now know how much sleep I need to feel rejuvenated. It isn’t even HOW MUCH SLEEP I get. It is the PATTERN OF MY SLEEP. I totally started using this when I was traveling with my student group to the east coast. Late nights and early mornings of sightseeing can be tough. But, with using a sleep calculator I was able to get the right pace of sleep. You can read an article here about best rated sleep APPs.

2. Down a glass of water as soon as you wake up. Sounds silly. But having water has become a morning ritual. It helps if I am hungry and really resets the digestive track. I also try to get a cute water bottle to make getting my daily H2O that more enjoyable throughout the rest of the day. My favorite is the bkr water bottle.

3. Take some quite time. For me that is a morning meditation and yoga follow by a warm cup of tea. I try to skip coffee as much as possible. Coffee, for me, is a weekend treat. My favorite yoga guru is here.

4. Eat breakfast. This is so important. Breakfast is such an important meal. I don’t typically feel hungry right away but it fuels my day for success. I like to keep it simple with yogurt and granola, these days.

5. Get everything you need for the next  day ready the night before. This goes for my clothes, breakfast, lunch, water and anything else I need for the next day. Not having to pack a lunch and being able to get out the door smoothly is critical to getting me on the road faster and beating that morning traffic.

I’m no professional, of course. I’m a normal human trying to figure this thing called life out. But, I do think I have mastered some life hacks that even the not so not so morning person can benefit from.

Do you have any morning routines that you swear by? If so comment below! I would love to hear what you do, to give me some ideas!
